The "Clean" Standards

In order to change the industry for the better  and become the brand guardians of “clean beauty” in the Region, we will make sure that the products are safe, sustainable, ethical and transparent. For this purpose, we’ll create guidelines to share with partners to reach the standards we are aiming for.

A journey offering to our allies and brand partners to be compliant.

WHAT CLEAN BEAUTY MEANS TO US

S A F E T Y

What we know about the safety of the product. Its ingredients. If it presents a risk to the user, or to the environment, whether by itself or when combined to an other product...

S O U R C I N G

We are looking at the origins of the ingredients. Where they are sourced from, if its from nature, and naturally-derived. We also look at the way they are harvested and extracted. Making sure that no harm has been done to any being.

S U S T A I N A B I L I T Y

We want to make sure that the products are sustainable. Which means that we look at the way the ingredients were grown, harvested and extracted. We will also look at their journey, making sure that the means used to transport them, package them, and protect them is as safe and ethical as possible. Including the people that made that journey possible.

E T H I C S

What we know about the labor conditions and the supply chain when the products are transported. But not only. It is also about making sure that the products are not tested on animals.

T R A N S P A R E N C Y

We are looking at the way ingredients and products were sourced, how pure they are and what are they made of. We also care about the brands we partner with, to make sure that suppliers and processes comply with our values.

FREE YOUR SKIN STANDARDS...

To become The "Clean" guardians of the Gulf, we need to make sure that our partners play the game. For this reason, we'll make sure to establish guidelines we both work with to set the standards.

Therefore, a "Free Of" Manifesto with the ingredients found in most of the beauty products will help us to get out of our way the ones that are not safe or sustainable.

But not only as we will also ask the brands to: use official ingredient terminology (called INCI), ingredient source codes where possible, obtain documentation on their ingredients’ composition, purity and sourcing. Conduct basic consumer safety (on humans) and product stability testing. At last back up product and ingredient claims.

WHAT'S CRUELTY FREE

Cruelty-free beauty means that products were not tested on animals—no guinea pigs, rabbits, rats or any other creatures forced to use skin care and cosmetics...

CLEAN VS NATURAL

In the beauty jargon, “natural" and "clean" are not synonymous. In fact, the term "natural" constitute one of the elements of "clean."
